Born in 1959 near Vienna, Austria, he received his first
musical tuition at the age of 6 from his father. He began to learn the double-bass at 14.
At age of 15, he began his studies with Prof. Ludwig Streicher at the Vienna Academy of
Music. He graduated in 1984 with Prof. Johannes Auersperg at the Musikhochschule
Graz/Oberschützen. Besides his membership of the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra since
its foundation in 1986 he holds a position as Principle Bass at the Vienna Volksoper
(since 1983). He is also a member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra (since 1981) and he
appears regularly with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
and with well-known chamber music ensembles like Vienna Chamber Ensemble, Ensemble Wien
and Wiener Virtuosen.
