Kota Morikawa - Violin

Kota Morikawa Members of Haydn Orchestra are some of the best musicians in Austria and Hungary. But not all are from those two countries. Violinist Kota Morikawa is Japanese. Born in Kagoshima prefecture, he is the principal second violin of Vienna's Volksoper Orchestra and also plays with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. He is one of the guest musicians with the Haydn Orchestra but sometimes plays the principal second violin. This position is very important at the final matinee of the annual Haydntage, because he must remain on the stage until the very end and play the solo of the traditional encore number, the Farewell Symphony. Last year, Kota Morikawa played this beautifully with the concertmaster Wolfgang Redik, and brought to a conclusion another successful festival.
